Cross Posted from the Iowa’s Severe Weather Center WeatherBlog at iaswc.org!
It looks like some Thunderstorms that Could be Severe will bring some relief to the area, At least for a short time. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has posted a Slight Risk of Severe Weather for a Big Portion of Southwestern Iowa. Storms that moved or are moving through the area this morning will set the Stage for this Afternoon and Evening’s Severe Weather threat.
Cooler temperatures, That’s what everyone wants. And that’s what we are seeing. Temperatures in the Upper 60’s to the Mid 80’s with some Humidity relief, We think that is great weather. But it doesn’t connect well with the Atmosphere. This connection will trigger some Thunderstorms this afternoon, approximentely where the Slight Risk of Severe Weather exists today. The only risk at this time appear’s to be the Damaging Winds threat, but Large Hail and an Isolated Tornado can never be ruled out.
