Flooding Update

River Flooding continues some 3 weeks after the peak. The Iowa River continues to slowly fall. At Marengo it is expected to fall below flood stage later tonight. The Iowa River at that location has been above flood stage at least 75% of the time since April. The Iowa River in Iowa City is at 24.75 feet. Flood Stage is 22. It should fall below flood stage on Sunday. Downstream at Lone Tree, the Iowa river should fall below flood stage sometime on Monday or Tuesday. At Columbus Junction, which was hard hit by the flooding of both the Iowa and Cedar Rivers, (They combine just north of town) the river has fallen below flood stage. This being due to the Cedar River being down to near normal levels for the summer now. The Iowa River in Wapello is just above flood stage and should fall below flood stage Saturday.
The Des Moines River continues to flood at Tracy and Ottumwa. It just fell below flood stage at Keosaqua and is just above flood stage at St. Francisville (where the Avenue of the Saints crosses into Missouri from Iowa)
On the Mississippi River, The river remains above flood stage from Keithsburg IL southward, however it is going to fall below flood stage at Keokuk today.
