HAPPY BIRTHDAY IOWA WEATHER BLOG: The Iowa Weather Blog turned 3 years old yesterday. The blog has added many new features in the past three years and we hope to add more. The blog continues to grow daily.

QUIET AND WARMING UP: For the longest time, there is no storm system forecast for at least the next 3 days. Mostly Sunny skies will be the rule through Saturday with highs trending upward each day through the week. Today temperatures will be close to yesterday’s readings of 70s to lower 80s. Wednesday will add a few degrees, with upper 70s NE to near 90 west. Thursday and Friday will be the warmest days, along with higher humidities, heat indices will be at or over 100°. Actual air temperatures will range from the mid to upper 80s NE to upper 90s SW.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND: The weekend is still looking mostly dry across the state, but a frontal boundary will be nearby that might set off a few showers and thunderstorms throughout the weekend. These will be widely scattered and not everyone will see rain. As of right now there is a slight chance at storms Saturday through next Tuesday, but it’s too early to pinpoint anything further.
