This is what flash flooding looks like. At 12:15am the stage was at 19.96 feet (just over flood stage), 15 minutes later the stage had zoomed to 30.18 feet just shy of the record stage. That would mean that in fifteen minutes the Nodaway River near Clarinda rose 10.22 feet or about 8 inches a minute!

NOTE: Not shown on the image, the river crested at 1:30am at 34.9 feet which is a new record for this location.
