SEVERE SUNDAY: There is a slight risk of severe weather outlooked again today for most of the state outside the northeastern counties. The main threats will be from large hail and especially damaging winds. A large complex of thunderstorms are expected to develop across the Dakotas and Nebraska and move across the state (similiar to yesterday morning through early afternoon’s system). This is likely to take place during the late afternoon and evening hours. Most of the state (especially east of Interstate 35 (maybe even east of US Hwy 71)) will remain dry for the daylight hours. Rain could be heavy and some flash flooding could be possible especially across the south that had heavy amounts this morning. There is also a threat of severe weather across the far eastern counties on Monday. This is likely to be very early on in the afternoon, with the main threat of severe weather well to the east of the state by the evening hours. Large hail and damaging winds will be main threats with any activity that forms before it crosses the river into Illinois.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND: With the holiday weekend now only a week away, the models are showing some better weather with very isolated shots at showers and thunderstorms with temperatures at or slightly above average. This would put readings in the upper 80s to lower 90s across the state, however this could still change slightly.

FLOODING: Levees continue under heavy strain along the Missouri River from around Missouri Valley and Blair NE on down to Hamburg. A levee breach west of Missouri Valley is threatening to close US Hwy 30 between Blair and MO Valley. Here is an article from the
River levels are likely to remain steady for another week or more given precipitation over the next few days across the area.
