SVR WX WEEKEND?: The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight across the southern counties of the state. The main threats will likely be from large hail and damaging winds, although the better probilities will remain over northern and eastern Missouri. Everyone should see some shower and thunderstorm activity but it should hold off until the evening and overnight hours. There could be some isolated storms during the late afternoon. As for the Indy Car race (Iowa Corn Indy 250) at Newton, rain should hold off for the Indy Lights at 5pm (VS), the Indy Car race at 7pm (VS) could be iffy especially nearing the end of the 250 lap race.

There is also a slight risk of severe weather outlooked for all but the northeastern quarter for Sunday into Sunday night. Again the main risks will likely be from large hail and damaging winds. The higher chances will be to the west, where initation of storms may likely take place. An MCS may form and move through the state during the overnight hours of Sunday night into Monday morning. There is also a chance of severe weather Monday as well but wasn’t out as of this writing.

FLOODING: Missouri River continues its long duration flood with river levels holding at record levels south of Omaha. Levee breaches are still possible especially from Omaha downstream. More rain in the forecast will not help matters. Also other rivers in the state remain at or above flood stage. If the QPF chart numbers hold out, there could be significant rises in many rivers that are not above flood stage at the present time. Stay tuned for any possible issuances of flash flood watches.
