SEVERE WX: The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight across far southwestern Iowa. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging winds. There is a slight risk of severe weather for Saturday and Saturday night for the southwestern half of the state, again the main threats will be large hail and damaging winds. These storms will be riding along the boundary between the cooler air we’ve been experiencing the last few days and the warmer more summerlike air that will be coming into the state early next week. There is a possibility these storms will occur during the evening and overnight hours similiar to a MCS. Heavy rain is possible as well with at least an inch through Saturday across southwestern Iowa.

INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND: Even though the holiday weekend is still more than a week away, consistent model runs continue to show that temperatures will be warm with readings likely a few degrees either side of 90 with isolated chances of showers and thunderstorms. We’ll have to wait to see if this continues on model runs.
