UNSUMMERLIKE: The next few days won’t feel like the first few days of Summer, it will be cool and showery with temperatures struggling to make it into the 70s. Some locales may see mid 60s. Swimming pools may be closed due to the “cold” weather today and tomorrow. The rainfall from these showers and isolated storms won’t amount to more than a quarter inch at best.
WEEKEND TWIST: The weekend should be “mostly” dry across the state, but the model run shows some storms possible on Sunday. This is possibly from a MCS that may form to the west Saturday night and roll through the state early Sunday morning, another one is possible Sunday night into Monday morning as well. The daytime hours should be mostly dry with a 20% shot at storms mainly across the western counties.
HOLIDAY WEEKEND: The holiday weekend is a week and a half away, and it looks like heat and humidity may be in store if current trends hold true. Saturday the 2nd may see a scattered shower or storm, but by Monday the 4th the heat ridge builds back and we could see highs easily in the 90s once more. This heat ridge has been persistent over the last few days, but it could change on the next run.
MO RIVER FLOODING: The Missouri River at Plattsmouth and Nebraska City have hit new records for those locations. They passed the record that had been set in the Flood of 1993. Current forecasts (seen on video) are for the river to fall back below the old record level and remain about a foot below that for the next week. Still, given current outflow from reservoirs upstream, flooding is likely to last on the Missouri River through at least August if not September at the latest.
