VERY ACTIVE DAYS: It is a very active morning as I type this, with numerous severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings across southern Iowa last evening into the overnight hours. Along with that came heavy rain which prompted numerous flash flood warnings. Severe weather will continue at least for the next two days. The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked the entire state in a risk area for severe weather. The western counties are under a moderate risk while the rest of the state is in a slight risk. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging straight line winds. There could be some isolated tornadoes especially west of Interstate 35. On Tuesday the low pressure center will move slowly into Minnesota, with a cold front swinging through the state. There is a slight risk of severe weather outlooked for most of the state, except the far west. All modes of severe weather will be possible on Tuesday, but to a lesser extent. Heavy rain will be possible as well, with flash flooding possible if not likely (given what is taking place this morning) There will be shower chances through mid-week with cooler temperatures down into the 60s and 70s. Readings will return to seasonal averages by the upcoming weekend. Friday through Sunday look dry for most of the state outside an isolated storm over the far west.
