STORMY SKIES: After one decent day across the state, the threat of showers and thunderstorms and severe weather moves back into the forecast. The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight for the entire state. The main risks look to be from large hail and damaging straight line winds. There is an isolated chance at a tornado mainly across the south and southwestern counties. Thunderstorms will congeal into a mesoscale convective system after dark with heavy rain becoming the main event after midnight Saturday morning.

BIGGER THREAT: A more powerful system could be in the offing early next week. A strong trough will be moving into the Plains states on Tuesday, with that, there is a risk of some severe weather somewhere in the area, including Iowa (The Storm Prediction Center has their 4-8 day outlook out around 3-4am, any new update will be mentioned later today). This will also bring more chances of showers and thunderstorms along with the possible severe weather threat. Remember, June is still tornado season in Iowa, so don’t let your guard down.

MO RIVER FLOODING: Flooding continues along the Missouri River, with many locations seeing steady or slow rises of not much more than a few inches a day. This is expected to continue for the next week depending on the amount of rain that falls with the latest systems over the next week to ten days.
