All of Iowa, Forecast

First Mid-West Winter Storm of Season to Miss Iowa (for the most part)

It seems like we’ve been spoiled with the great weather we’ve been having recently, however all good things must come to an end, and for many in the midwest it will come to an end in a big way.

First let’s take a look at all the Watches and Warnings across the country.

The Blue color is a Winter Storm Watch, covering much of Minnesota and South Dakota, with a Blizzard Watch in Green placed in the Eastern half of SD and Western MN. Where does that leave Iowa?

Taking a closer look, it appears that Lyon county is the only one under a watch at this time.screen-shot-2016-11-16-at-7-39-59-pm

While most of us won’t be digging out, the same can’t be said for folks in MN and SD.

As you can see, a pretty good sized storm for this time of year.

Here is a graphic for the NWS that shows the amount that Iowa could see.

A lot more manageable.

So does that mean Iowa is out of the woods entirely? Not quite…

It terms of temperatures we’ll be seeing an impact.

Come this weekend we will go from the mild conditions we’ve been experiencing the past month, to much cooler temps, and blustery conditions.

Here is a graphic from NWS that shows some of the temps we may see.

While the temps will be on the not so pleasant side this weekend, I rather not have a foot of snow. So I guess we’re lucky on that side.
