Wet weather will make a return across the state tonight, and tomorrow.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop tonight, and heavy rain is a possibilty especially in North East-Central Iowa, where 2-3 inches of rain (locally higher) are in the forecast.
A Flash Flood Watch will go into effect beginning at 10:00 PM tonight for most of our northern counties in Eastern and Central Iowa, this watch is currently set to expire tomorrow morning, however I wouldn’t be surprised if this is extended.
There is also a River Flood Watch for the areas hit really hard by Flash Flooding a couple weeks ago, as the rivers in that area are still seeing impact from that event, and it wouldn’t be hard for river flooding to occur, something we’ll keep an eye on.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed a slight risk of severe weather for the northern section of the state tonight, while widespread severe weather is not expected, an isolated severe storm (with strong winds being the primary threat) can not be ruled out.
We will keep an eye on things, stay tuned to The Iowa Weather Network, for the latest information.
