Flash flooding is ongoing at this hour across east central Iowa. As of 12:40 a.m., flash flood warnings were in effect for all of Benton, Linn, and Cedar Counties counties and the northern portions of Iowa and Johnson counties through the early morning hours tomorrow. Law enforcement across these counties are reporting flash flooding with road closures and water rescues around the Cedar Rapids area. Up to six inches of rain has already fallen with additional rainfall on the way. Take appropriate actions if a Flash Flood Warning is issued for your area.

River Flood Watches are in effect for the following sites:

• Iowa River at Marengo until Sunday morning. At 9:00 p.m. Thursday, the stage was 7.1 feet. Flood stage is 14 feet. Minor flooding is possible with the river expected to crest at 15 feet Saturday morning.
• English River at Kalona until Sunday evening. At 9:00 p.m. Thursday, the stage was 4.2 feet. Flood stage is 14 feet. Minor flooding is possible with the river expected to crest at 15.3 feet Saturday morning.
• Turkey River at Garber from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. At 8:15 a.m. Thursday, the stage was 7.7 feet. Flood stage is 17 feet. Minor flooding is possible with the river expected to crest at 18.7 feet Saturday morning.
• Turkey River at Elkader from Friday morning to Monday morning. At 8:45 a.m. Thursday, the stage was 6.8 feet. Flood stage is 12 feet. Minor flooding is possible with the river expected to crest at 14.7 feet Saturday morning.

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this morning for much of northeast, east central, and southern Iowa.
