An enhanced risk of severe weather remains over the far northern sections of the state today. Scattered supercellular thunderstorms are expected to form in the late afternoon to early evening hours across eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota, gradually growing upscale into a solid mesoscale convective system with damaging winds being the primary threat there. The elevated risk for Wednesday has been trimmed back as planned for basically just northwestern Iowa; large hail and tornadoes are the concerns with that.
