Severe Thunderstorm Watch #283 has been issued for northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, and southeast South Dakota until 5:00 a.m.
Primary Threats Include:
- Scattered Large Hail and Isolated Very Large Hail Events to 2″ in Diameter Possible
- Scattered Damaging Wind Gusts to 70 MPH Possible
Summary: A cluster of thunderstorms over central South Dakota will continue to track east-southeastward into the watch area overnight. Other storm are also expected to form out ahead of the initial cluster. Large hail and damaging winds will be possible with all this activity.
Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.
