DRY TIMES: Still is looking to stay dry as any rain chances we saw yesterday have pretty much evaporated at least through the weekend. Temperatures however will drop back into the 80s to near 90 for the state as we head into the weekend with mostly sunny skies around. Any precipitation chances look to stay north of the state for the time being.
A REFRESHER: A cold front will sag into the state Monday into Tuesday morning with a chance of some showers and thunderstorms. It will also bring some cooler readings Tuesday and Wednesday of next week as well. Rainfall amounts look to be around a quarter to half inch, however some areas could get much more than that. Highs will drop into the 70s to lower 80s for highs with lower dew points as well. The cooler air looks to last through the end of next week with some heat building off to our west where 90s and even some triple digits could be possible out in the Plains. There is still some uncertainty on whether this could make a bigger push to the east which could change the temperature forecast at that time. We’ll watch for any changes.
SHOOTING THE FIREWORKS: As we look at the rest of the extended period which takes us to just before the 4th of July, the GFS shows the storm track staying fairly close to the state and the heat ridge that is developing over the Southwest staying in its place or not moving closer to our neck of the woods. That would mean that readings are likely to stay close to seasonal levels for what is considered the hottest time of the year with chance of precipitation being close to normal as well. However this is just model data and even that could change things in just a few days time.
