DRYING OUT: It will dry out across the state as sunshine returns for the rest of the week with temperatures remaining in the 80s to lower 90s across the state. Several areas got quite a bit of rain in the previous 24-36 hours while other areas saw nary a drop of rain. There won’t be a whole lot of rain as mentioned through the end of the week at least. The GFS does show a chance of some rain in our southwestern counties late Thursday night into Friday morning, but this doesn’t look too promising. High pressure will be in control at least into the weekend where a frontal system is shown to sag into the state from the north with a chance of some showers and storms at that time. The next widespread chance of precipitation across the state looks to be Monday into Tuesday of next week with the front mentioned earlier coming through the state. That front not only would bring some rain, but may cool us into the lower 80s (or cooler) for highs early next week. Something we’ll monitor in the coming days.
ENDING THE FIRST HALF: Looking through the extended period, there isn’t a whole of activity seen on the model both temperature and precipitation wise. No huge ridges or big storm systems seen at this time. This doesn’t mean there couldn’t be some, the models just aren’t seeing anything of significance with regards to storms and or possible heat waves through the end of June. Something we’ll have to keep watching as well.
