It looks like no break is in sight from the mildness that we have been experiencing over the last couple of weeks. Much of the nation’s mid-section is under some form of heat-related alert, from northern Nebraska to southern Texas. One-third of the state of Nebraska is under an Excessive Heat Watch, with Excessive Heat Warnings being posted around the Kansas City metro and portions of northern Oklahoma.

Heat Advisories are issued when a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
