All of Iowa, Forecast

This Forecast is on Fire!!!!

HEATING UP: Temperatures will be heading upward as we head through the rest of the week with mainly dry conditions through the end of the week. Sunshine with a few clouds will be around today and tomorrow. Highs will be in the 70s today across the state with middle 70s to lower 80s across the state on Wednesday. A disturbance will move into the state late Wednesday night into Thursday with a chance of a shower or storm at that time, but not everyone will get precipitation from this system. After the system passes, temperatures will continue to climb as mentioned well into the 80s and even 90s as we head toward the end of the week. The humidity levels will be on the increase as well which will lead heat indices to climb above the century mark.

WEEKEND: Heading into the weekend, the GFS is showing a system coming through the state with a backdoor cold front coming in from the north and northeast. If this were to occur, it would bring some cooler temperatures into our northeastern counties along with an increased chance of showers and storms as well. We’ll need to watch this over the next few days with regards to this system and the variability of the temperatures behind and ahead of said frontal system. Another frontal system will be approaching from the west late Sunday and into next week with a better chance of showers and storms at that time. We have better confidence with this system than the possible backdoor front as of this moment.

THE IDLE MARK OF JUNE: Looking through the extended period, the GFS shows a fairly active weather pattern with chances of showers and storms around with temperatures within a few degrees of seasonal levels. Too much uncertainty with regards to timing etc to justify further discussion at this time.
