A COOL START: Meteorological Summer begins today and it is going to start out a bit cool and dry with temperatures in the 70s and comfortable dew points in the 50s. We may see some early morning rain showers in the eastern counties but this should be gone by mid-day. This will leave mostly sunny skies across the state today. More of the same is in store on Thursday as well, however the rain activity looks to come back late Thursday night into Friday and the first half of Saturday with a storm system coming in from the west. The best chances of seeing any activity looks to be late Thursday into Friday and then again Friday evening through Saturday morning. We are likely to see several hours of dry time with possible sunshine around as well. Readings are likely to be in the 70s to lower 80s across the state through Saturday.
SUMMER LOVIN: Cooler weather is shown heading into the first part of next week as well with a trough digging in across the Great Lakes and New England. We will be in a northwesterly flow which will keep the state cool, comfortable and mainly dry. Highs in the 70s to around 80 with dew points in the 50s are seen through Tuesday across the state. Warmer air and more moist air looks to return toward the middle and end of next week along with the chance of showers and thunderstorms as well. We should have a handle on this in the coming days.
OVER THE HILL: As we look into the extended period, the cooler air to our north and the warm to hot weather to our south continues to battle over the area with quick moving systems moving through the area through the end of the period. Don’t really see any trend at this time with regards to systems and the like but we’ll watch it. Readings look to be close to seasonal levels as the GFS is hinting the hot air will be staying south of the state. We’ll see if that continues to be the case in the coming days.
