THE WEEKEND: Sunshine will be greeting us today with some clouds mainly over the eastern and northeastern counties of the state. Highs today will range from the upper 30s northeast to the middle 50s west and southwest. We will continue to see sunshine on Saturday as well with some increase in the clouds by the afternoon. It will be a bit warmer as well with 40s east to the lower 60s west. There will be some gusty winds out of the south as well on Saturday into Saturday night with a system coming in from the west. This will bring a chance of some showers and perhaps a thunderstorm to the area late Saturday night and especially on Sunday. Readings on Sunday will be held down into the 50s for the most part due to the amount of cloudiness around. Rainfall amounts around a quarter to half inch are possible with some isolated heavier totals.
NEXT WEEK: Cooler weather will come in to begin with the week with mostly sunny skies around Monday and Tuesday. Highs will make it into the 40s and 50s across the state. A warm front is shown to come through the state on Wednesday. We may see an increase in cloudiness with this feature along with a slight chance of a shower. It won’t be widespread and any precipitation that may fall will be quite light. It will bring warmer weather for the end of the week along with breezy winds out of the south and southwest. This will bring temperatures well into the 60s and perhaps even some 70s across the area. The warm winds look to continue into the following weekend ahead of a storm system that looks to come in from the west next Sunday with showers and thunderstorms possible. We have plenty of time to watch this in the coming days for trends and timing of said system.
OVER THE HORIZION: As we look further into the extended period, the weather pattern is shown to be fairly active with numerous systems moving through the area with chances of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are shown to be at or slightly above seasonal levels for the middle of the month with cooler readings seen toward the end of the period. No big trends have developed so confidence remains low at this time.
