1/10/16 Arctic Outbreak Reported Lows

Today was Iowa’s first real shot at cold, and coming out of a very mild December, this cold really felt like it had a punch to it. Low temperatures this morning were basically below zero statewide from -15° or colder across the north to around -2° across the south. Even though today was very sunny, high temperatures remained below zero in parts of the north and only made it between 9 and 12 degrees above across the southern part of the state. This is 20 to 25 degrees below the average high of 31°, however a cold snap of this magnitude is very typical for our area. Temperatures will quickly rebound to the 20s for tomorrow before we go back into the arctic air for Tuesday, with highs back to the lower teens to single digits. Thursdays highs will rebound briefly between 30 to 40 degrees statewide.
