DECEMBER STRIKES BACK: Oh my goodness, we’re going to have seasonal readings for the next couple of days. Highs in the 20s and 30s will be common through Saturday with some slightly warmer temperatures on Sunday ahead of a weak system that could bring a little rain and or snow to the state. There will be a lot of clouds around again today with only a peak or two of sunshine possible in our southern counties. There will be a little more sunshine Friday and even more on Saturday before clouds increase again on Sunday ahead of the aforementioned system.
TINSEL TIME: Heading into next week, Monday and Tuesday look to be fairly quiet with partly to mostly sunny skies around with highs in the 20s and 30s. A storm will move in late Wednesday through Thursday with a chance of rain and snow across the state. Like yesterday the track of the storm will be over the far eastern counties of the state which would mean more snow than rain as the precipitation type. We should have a grasp of potential amounts that may fall with this system by this weekend or early next week. Christmas Day looks to be mild with winds coming out of the southwest which could warm us up into the 30s and maybe even 40s, however if we have any snow with the previous system this could lead to fog and clouds on Christmas Day. You don’t hear anyone singing of dreaming of a foggy dreary Christmas. There’s still plenty of time to watch for any changes in the coming days.
THE NEW YEAR!: As we look further into the extended period which takes us to New Year’s Day, the GFS has ANOTHER storm coming in on the 26th and 27th with more rain and or snow. This run shows this storm to be much stronger than the one prior to Christmas so for those heading home after the long Christmas Weekend, there could be some trouble (at least according to this run), however it’s still a ways away at this point. Colder air comes in after that which last through the 30th before Pacific air moves in from the west through the end of the period, so the year will end and the New Year will start with mild temperatures, at least according to this run. We’ll see if this continues in the coming days or not.
