3:30 AM Update: Roads are Still Dangerous this Morning

Light-to-moderate snow is continuing this morning for locations east of Interstate 35. The backend of this system has deteriorated quite a bit as of late and the overall strength of it is on the down slide. However, snowfall totals are still expected to be in the 8-10″ range for many areas, with the gradual continuation of the light snow, with some bands being in the 0.5-1″ an hour range. This system will continue moving east throughout the morning and should be out of the state a little around noon, leaving behind a fresh pack of snow, and very chilly temperatures.

Road conditions this morning have not changed much. Mostly-to-completely covered roads still exist for much of the state with travel advisories out for the Des Moines and Waterloo metros (and surrounding areas). These reports are likely a tad outdated as roads should be getting cleaner in the west where snow has not been for quite a while.
