ACTIVE WEDNESDAY: Another day of mostly sunny skies across the state today with readings in the 50s to lower 60s. There will be an increase in cloudiness by later in the afternoon ahead of the next system that will be approaching from the southwest. This will bring a few rain showers and some thunderstorms to the southwestern counties of the state during the overnight hours before overspreading the rest of the state on Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to be likely across the state during the day on Wednesday into Wednesday night. Some of the storms could become strong to severe especially in our southern counties south of Interstate 80. A separate post will detail that. Highs on Wednesday will be in the 50s to lower 60s. As the storm system moves off to the northeast, colder air will filter in from the northwest and we could see some rain ending as a rain snow mix in our western and northwestern counties. Little if any accumulation is likely as most of the moisture will have departed the state by the time the colder air arrives late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, but it is something we’ll continue to monitor.

COOLDOWN: Thursday and Friday will be cooler across the state with readings in the 40s to lower and middle 50s for highs for most of the state. Clouds may linger in our northeastern counties on Thursday before slowing clearing out by late in the day. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny elsewhere, with the entire state seeing some sunshine on Friday with similar readings to that of Thursday being seen.

PLEASANT WEEKEND: Temperatures look to rebound a bit as we head into the weekend and Monday of next week. It will remain mostly sunny with readings well into the 50s and perhaps a 60 or two in some areas. Clouds will once again be on the increase ahead of another system that looks to move into the state Monday night into Tuesday of next week with a chance of some rain at that time.

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking at the extended period, another storm is shown to be right on the heels of the one mentioned next Tuesday across the state. This one looks to move into the state late next Wednesday and last through next Friday with a chance of some rain and perhaps a bit of snow at the end. It’s still a ways out there but something we’ll have to watch in the coming days. Thereafter temperatures will be seasonally cool through the end of the period with tranquil weather foreseen up through Thanksgiving.
