It’s Dry and Staying That Way

DRY SEASONAL WEEK AHEAD: More dry weather will be in store for the rest of the week across the state with readings mainly near seasonal levels Today through Thursday. We will see highs get into the 60s to around 70 for the most part. Cooler air will come down from the northwest on Friday and this will bring readings down into the 50s and lower 60s for highs and lows Friday night may get down into the upper 20s in our northern counties which will lead to the first freeze of the year there. Some frost is possible across the rest of the state except the far south. We’ll watch this over the next few days as we get toward the end of the week.

WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK: Saturday will start off cool as mentioned prior with readings reaching the 50s and lower to middle 60s across the state. Sunday will be a bit warmer and breezy as the high pressure will move off to our east. This will bring winds around from the south around 10-20mph with some higher gusts possible. This could lead to some high fire danger in some areas given the lack of precipitation over the last few weeks. The lack of precipitation could be coming to an end as we head into next week with a new storm system moving in from the west on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Some showers are possible at that time. It’s too early to determine any possible amounts, but we should be able to get a better handle on this system by late this week or into the weekend.

BLAZING THROUGH OCTOBER: Looking toward the rest of the month, the model is indicating much cooler air moving in the middle of next week with the passage of the storm system, we could see another frost/freeze event Wednesday night of next week if this comes to pass and this could end the growing season for the entire state. We’ll watch for any changes on that in coming days. Temperatures are shown to moderate back to seasonal readings and perhaps even above them as well as we head toward the end of the month. Another storm system is seen moving into the state around the 27th of October with a chance of precipitation at that time.
