Today, the only way you would have known it’s actually fall is from the scattering of color we currently have in our landscape. Other than that, today was a very summer-like day across the state. Temperatures were 20-30 degrees higher than average for this time of year with highs in the mid 80s to the lower 90s. The high was 91.F both at Sioux City and Omaha. This is a new record for Omaha and a tied record for Sioux City. Slightly cooler highs in the lower 80s to upper 70s were seen across eastern Iowa. These warm conditions were brought on by southerly winds gusting over 30MPH at times. This was all a part of a much larger warm-up that brought highs up to a whopping 97.F in Fargo, ND. Tomorrow, we will cool off to more normal highs for this time of year – 60s and 70s. It will be a windy day again, this time out of the northwest – gusting to 45 MPH at times.
