The National Weather Service (NWS) has designated this week, Oct 4th – 10th, as their “Did You Know” week.  NWS Offices all around the country are taking to Facebook and Twitter with interesting facts and information about the NWS. Just search for #NWSDYK to follow along.

Many people take for granted the dedicated employees who work to keep us safe at the 122 National Weather Service Offices around the country. Each NWS Office not only issues weather related products, but they have many other functions as well.  Did you know each Office is responsible for training weather spotters?  The NWS uses thousands of weather spotters across the country to provide them real time and accurate reports. This is just one of many functions of each NWS Office.
