Iowa Weather Report October 2nd 2015: Same Ol’ Weather

CALM WEEKEND FOR US: The weather continues to remain calm for us through the weekend with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the 60s and lows in the upper 30s to middle 40s across the state. A storm system tries to move into the state this weekend, but most of the rain chances should stay just west of the state at this time. We could see a few more clouds in our western counties on Saturday because of it, but it should not be much of an issue at this time.

NEXT WEEK: The quiet weather pattern will continue into the beginning of next week before another storm system finally makes its way into the state by Wednesday into Thursday. Ahead of that will be more sunshine around with readings in the 60s to lower 70s possible. The storm looks to move in late Wednesday into our western counties and Wednesday night into Thursday for the rest of the state. It’s too early to determine rainfall amounts at this time, but we’ll keep track of it as we get closer.

OVER THE HORIZON: Looking into the extended period, the system in the middle to end of next week will move away by the weekend with some cooler temperatures following along with some drier weather. This doesn’t look to last as the winds are shown to turn around to the south and southwest and warm us above seasonal levels as we head toward the middle of the month. We have seen this over the last few days with regards to a warm up in the middle of October. While we’re not confident yet in this solution, the trend is there. The warm up doesn’t look to last long with a frontal system sweeping in around the 13th bringing much cooler air in for nearly the rest of the period. The weather pattern is shown to turn active again as well with several systems moving through at that time.
