Iowa Weather Report: September 5th 2015 Relief in sight

Today: Hot and Humid conditions will continue across the area today, with high’s generally in the upper 80’s to low 90’s across the area under Mostly Sunny skies.  Heat indexes will approach the 100’s in many locations as the day progresses.

Tonight: There is a slight chance of showers/thunderstorms in the far NW portion of the state, however most locations will remain dry.  Temps will only drop into the low 70’s  for over night lows.

Tomorrow: Sunday will be a day of transition as a cold front begins it’s track across the state.  Thunderstorms are expected to develop in NW IA and move SE across the area through the evening and overnight hours.  Some severe storms are possible, along with heavy rainfall.  Temps will however climb back into the upper 80’s to low 90’s in advance of the front.

Tomorrow night: Showers and Thunderstorms are expected pretty much state wide through much of the overnight hours.  Relief from the heat and humidity will finally start trickling into the state, with lows dropping into the upper 50’s in NW IA behind the cold front.

The week ahead: Temps finally begin to drop back down into more seasonable levels, with highs in the 70’s to around 80 expected for much of the area during the week.
