SOLD-OUT IN THE RAIN: Country mogul Carrie Underwood will be performing at 8:00 p.m. at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand. Only if the weather sounded as good as her voice…
TODAY: Widespread showers and thunderstorms will be the story for the majority of the day today. High temperatures across the state will range from the low 70s (even a few upper 60s) across the northwest to the mid 80s in the southeast. The best chances for this will be during the evening hours. A marginal risk of severe weather does exist across basically the southern one-third and east central parts of the state. This is primarily for an isolated large hail or damaging wind event.
TONIGHT: Thunderstorms will continue into tonight with lows in the upper 50s northwest to the upper 60s southeast.
TOMORROW: A pacific trough of low pressure will be ejecting into the area with widespread thunderstorms likely. A similar day to today is on tap tomorrow with temperatures ranging from a chilly 63° in Sioux Falls to 85° in Peoria and Keokuk. An elevated risk of severe weather exists across the entire state, please refer to later posts for more information on this threat.
TOMORROW NIGHT: Thunderstorms with much colder temperatures ranging from the low 50s (nearly upper 40s!) northwest to the mid-to-upper 60s southeast.
Much colder weather is on tap for Wednesday with upper 60s and low 70s being the highlight temperatures. Light showers or a drizzle will prevail throughout the day before letting up by the time nighttime comes around. More seasonal weather is on tap for the rest of the week with no concerns outside of that.
Please refer to later posts this morning regarding the severe weather threat for Tuesday. As always, make sure your NOAA Weather Radio is working and stay tuned to later updates.
