High School State Baseball – Day 3 – Class 2A Quarterfinals

If I had a choice of two words to describe the weather today at Principal Park in Des Moines, the first would be hot and the second would be muggy. A low pressure system across the northwestern United States continues to push a lovely ridge into the area, bringing the hot and humid air in with it. Temperatures today will be in the mid-to-upper 80s for most of the day, however, when combined with dew points in the low-to-mid 70s, feels like temperatures will be approaching nearly 100°. Partly cloudy skies will be the prevailing condition with winds out of the south-southeast for the majority of the day at 5-10 MPH.

If you are heading out to the game today… wear loose and light fitting clothing, drink plenty of water (no, caffeine is not a substitute – this will only dehydrate you more), try to avoid heavy meals if possible, protect your face and head, and know the signs of heat-related illnesses.

Good luck to all of the teams playing today!
