WARMTH AND STORMS: Temperatures will remain warm but not as warm as we have been seeing over the last few days. Humidity levels will be a bit lower as well. Highs today will range from the 80s to the lower 90s across the state. It will be mostly sunny today and tomorrow, but more thunderstorms are in the forecast late Wednesday night through Thursday. Some storms could bring some heavy rainfall with them, however some areas may not get any rain at all. It’s still up in the air where the best chances will be for the precipitation late tomorrow night into Thursday. Friday will be dry but temperatures will be warm again with 80s and 90s likely with the humidity levels back up once again.
WEEKEND WARM: The weekend looks to feature warm temperatures in the 80s and 90s and some chances of showers and thunderstorms. Most of this activity looks to occur during the overnight hours, but we can’t rule it out any other time of the day. It will remain humid as well. A system looks to come through late Sunday night into Monday with some better chances of seeing showers and thunderstorms, however we should have a better idea on the timing of this in the coming days. Readings look to cool slightly early next week but not by a whole lot.
THROUGH THE REST OF JULY: Looking into the extended period which takes us almost to the end of July, the GFS shows the ridge that has been setting up to the south of the state expanding and covering most of the country east of the Rockies. This will also move the main storm track well north of the state if this verifies. It would also bring temperatures well into the 90s with heat indices at or over 100 on most days. We still couldn’t rule out a shower or storm around, but the best chances would likely come from nocturnal events that develop farther to the north and west and move into the state during the overnight or early morning hours.
