Iowa Weather Report June 2nd 2015: More Wet Ending the Week

GETTING A BIT WET: We’ll still have plenty of sunshine around the state today with readings in the upper 60s to middle 70s. The only fly in the forecast is a very slight chance of a shower or storm in our far western counties late this afternoon into tonight. The rest of the state will start to get in on the rain action Wednesday through the end of the week and into the weekend. There will be some dry periods where we could see some sunshine. Highs during this period will be in the 70s to lower 80s all dependent on the amount of sunshine and or clouds we get during the daylight hours. Rainfall amounts through this weekend will be around an inch or so with some isolated heavier totals in areas that get repeated thunderstorm activity. It’s too early to determine any chances of severe weather during this period. We’ll keep watching over the coming days.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: Monday looks dry and a tad cooler but not by much with readings mainly in the 70s. Next Tuesday and Wednesday, a storm system is forecast to move in with another chance of showers and thunderstorms at that time. Looking farther into the extended period, a slight cool down looks to be followed by some warmer temperatures toward the end of the period as the main jet stream looks to lift north of the state. However there will be some chances of precipitation throughout the period, but it may become slighter as we get toward the end of the period. We’ll keep watching over the coming days for any changes.
