RAIN RAIN RAIN: There will be several chances of showers and thunderstorms over the next seven days across the state. There will be some dry times as well but they will be few and far between. Highs will be dependent on the amount of possible sunshine we may receive. If we see more clouds and rain during the daylight hours, highs will be held down into the 60s and lower 70s across the area. If we see some sunshine around for part of the day, we may see readings well into the 70s and 80s. Some of the storms this week could be strong to severe but timing these out later in the week will be assessed at that time. Rainfall amounts through this next weekend could exceed two to three inches with isolated heavier amounts. This may lead to some flooding that we will have to monitor over the next few days.
LOOKING AHEAD: As we look into the extended period, the GFS has a short break next Tuesday across the state before another storm looks to move in late next Tuesday night through next Thursday (May 12th through the 14th). A few more storms are possible through the end of the period (19th) with temperatures looking to stay near seasonal levels for the middle of May. The timing and strength of said systems is still up in the air. We’ll continue to monitor.
