Three Tornadoes Confirmed in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities confirmed that three tornadoes touched down in eastern Iowa and western Illinois Thursday. The first tornado that was confirmed started at 5:04 PM eight miles west of Maysville, Iowa, continued on for 22 miles, and ended at 5:30 PM 2 miles south of DeWitt, Iowa. Estimated peak winds with this tornado reached 100 MPH, making it an EF-1 with a max width of 100 yards.

The second tornado that was on the ground started 1 mile southeast of the Clinton Airport at 5:40 PM, continued for 13 miles, and ended 5 miles northeast of Fulton, Illinois at 6:00 PM. Estimated peak wind with this was also 100 mph, making it an EF-1. The max tornado width was 75 yards.

The third and final tornado in the NWS Quad Cities CWA started 5 miles northeast of Fulton, Illinois at 6:02 PM, continued 7.5 miles, and ended at 6:15 PM 8 miles east of Thomson, Illinois. Estimated peak winds topped 90 MPH, making it a low end EF1 with a max width of 50 yards.
