Tornado Watch Possible by 2pm in Eastern and Southeastern Iowa

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined an area in southeast and eastern Iowa with a 95% chance of a tornado watch being issued in or near that area by 2pm this afternoon. A few storms have developed across northern Missouri and are expected to track northeastward into the southeastern counties of the state. Any of the storms could produce large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes as well. The storms should move out of the state late this afternoon or early this evening, ending the severe weather threat. It should be noted that there is a wind shift line moving through the eastern counties of the state. Example at Noon, Cedar Rapids, Monticello and Dubuque had northerly winds while Iowa City, Clinton and Davenport had south or southwesterly winds. There was a noted temperature contrast as well. This boundary could be a focal point for some of the storms later on.

Stay Alert to any watches and warnings that may be coming out this afternoon.
