The Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather for this afternoon and this evening for areas east of a line from Dubuque to the Quad Cities. A marginal risk of severe weather has been issued east of the line from Decorah to Cedar Rapids to Keosauqua. Showers and storms are expected to fire in the early afternoon hours across the eastern part of the state. These storms will quickly move out of the state by the early evening hours. The main threats with these storms will likely be large hail and damaging straight line winds. Any tornado threat should remain to the east of the state at this time. The threat will move out of the state in the early evening hours with just some remnant showers possible the rest of the night. More active weather is possible early next week and we’ll have more on that in the coming days.
