Iowa Weather Report March 13th 2015: Warm Temps into the Weekend

NO CHANGE: No big changes as we head into the weekend with skies remaining mostly sunny through Monday across the state. Readings will still remain above seasonal levels in the 50s 60s and 70s through the weekend and into Monday. It will be dry as well which may lead to an increased fire risk across the western counties of the state.

COOLER TEMPS: A cold front is expected to come through late Monday but it looks to be mainly dry with perhaps nothing more than a few clouds around. Highs will drop back into the 40s and 50s for highs with lows in the 20s and 30s. A disturbance may move into the area by late next week that could bring some precipitation to the state but the chance looks slight at this time.

LOOKING TOWARD THE END OF MARCH: Looking at the extended period, temperatures look to be close to seasonal levels through the period with the GFS only showing one storm of significance moving through the state around the 26th or 27th. Otherwise it looks rather dry for the time being which is not looking good as we’ve melted all the snow and sooner or later we’ll need more precipitation to keep moisture levels up before a possible drought could set in once again.
