A WARM WEEK: Temperatures will remain above seasonal averages for a change for the next several days with the temperatures in the 40s, 50s and 60s across the state. Snow will continue to melt in earnest across the state and will be almost gone by the end of the week. It also looks to remain dry throughout the week as well with plenty of sunshine around. One thing that might be a fly in the forecast is the possibility of some fog in areas where snow is melting. This could be an issue during the morning hours but should burn off rather quickly if it does develop.
WEEKEND: A storm will skirt the state to the south and southeast but will be close enough that some rain is possible over the far southeastern counties of the state on Saturday. Sunday looks to be dry with plenty of sunshine around once again. Readings will still remain above seasonal levels in the 50s and lower 60s across the state.
LOOKING FORWARD: As we look into the extended period, the GFS has a cold front coming in from the north around St. Patrick’s Day that could bring some precipitation to the state. This will also bring a shot of colder air into the state as well, but it only looks to last a day or so before readings modify once more back to seasonal or even a bit above seasonal readings. This pattern looks to repeat itself for the rest of the period with several systems swinging through with cold shots behind them that last a day or two before modifying. We don’t have a lot of confidence in this at this point, but even with the warm temperatures this week, don’t put away the snow shovels just yet.
