All of Iowa, Winter Weather Advisory

Several Advisories Out for Some Ice in the South and some Blowing Snow North

The National Weather Service has issued more Winter Weather Advisories for the state. The southern counties, the advisories are mainly for the chance of some light freezing rain, sleet or freezing drizzle as warmer air moves into the state over the cold snow pack. Any ice accretion will be light and under a tenth of an inch, however any ice no matter the amount will cause some travel issues on roadways, especially on bridges and overpasses.

The northern counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory for mainly some light snow along with blowing snow later on in the day as cold air moves in from the northwest. Snowfall amounts will be light with most places in the northern counties likely seeing an inch or so. Travel will be impacted for those travelling in the northern counties of the state during the afternoon and into the evening hours. There are blizzard warnings farther to the north over Minnesota and South Dakota where they could see some heavier snows and stronger winds up that way. Be aware of that if you are going to be travelling along I-35 toward the Twin Cities.

This system will be moving off to our east Tuesday night with cold air returning for what could be a final blast Wednesday into Thursday.
