Iowa Weather Report February 13th 2015: Another Cold Blast On The Way

NO REAL CHANGE: It’s still going to stay relatively cold for the weekend and into next week with reinforcing shots of cold air coming in every few days. Today will be somewhat warm compared to what we’ll see in the coming days. Highs in the 20s and 30s across the state with partly to mostly sunny skies. There will be more clouds across the northeastern counties of the state as a warm front which moved through early this morning with a bit of snow will be moving off to the east. This will be followed by a cold front later tonight that will rush colder air out and drop readings all day on Saturday. By Sunday morning, readings will be below zero in all but the western counties of the state where clouds will be on the increase and snow may break out. The snow will move through the state on Sunday with highs only making it into the upper single digits through the teens. The storm that we’ve been seeing for early next week, on this run is much further south and wouldn’t affect the state at all, but we’ll watch to see if that changes in the coming days. Another batch of cold air returns again by the middle of next week.

FROM THEN ON THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH: The cold air looks to continue through the end of next week with clippers continuing to rotate through the area bringing some chances of precipitation with them. Another cold blast around the 25th and 26th could bring air similar to what we might see Sunday morning across the state, but that’s still two weeks away and things can change in that time period. The pattern does look to break down at the end of the month but that too could change as well.
