One of our many goals for 2015 was to become more localized and unique to each and every viewer of the state. In association with this point, we have decided to re-configure our automated NWS alert system to switch from having all of the statewide alerts on our main Facebook and Twitter pages, and instead having them on nine separate zone pages for the state – Northwest, North Central, Northeast, West Central, Central, East Central, Southeast, South Central, and Southeast. This will allow us to have the most vital and important weather information on our main pages and have the localized alerts on the regional pages. This will be a great advancement, as, if you are John or Jane in Spencer, Iowa, you probably don’t want to hear about alerts in Burlington or Davenport, but do want to hear about alerts regarding severe thunderstorms coming from the east.

Northwest Iowa: Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, and Sioux
