TRIO OF CLIPPERS: Several clipper systems will be moving through the area over the next couple of days. One will come through late tonight that could bring some precipitation mainly over the northeastern counties of the state. The chances are low but we can’t rule out a few flurries or snow showers in those areas. The second system will be a bit stronger and looks to move in from the northwest Saturday night into Sunday with some light snow as well. Temperatures may be warm enough that some rain snow mix is possible on the southern fringe of the precipitation. Any snow accumulation at this point looks to be about an inch and confined to the northeastern counties once again. Heavier snow totals will be found across Wisconsin. The third clipper looks to drop in Monday and it too will be aimed at the northeastern counties of the state with some light snow as well. Any accumulation with that looks to be light as well. Meanwhile highs will be in the 30s and 40s today, 30s northeast to lower 50s southwest on Saturday and 30s and 40s again Sunday and Monday.
NEXT WEEK: A quick warm up as we head into Wednesday will be quickly squelched by another clipper system on Thursday. This one looks to bring rain and or snow to the state at that time. This will also bring down colder air that will last into the rest of the week and the following weekend as well. We’ll continue monitoring this as we get closer.
FEBRUARY FREEZE: Another clipper looks to make a move on the state next Saturday (31st) and Sunday (1st) which could bring some significant precipitation to the area. It also looks to bring the arctic air that has been on a brief hiatus for the last few weeks back into the state. This looks to last a few days before readings moderate around the 5th and 6th of the month. There will be a few systems mixed in the period as well with more snow accumulations at that point. We’ll keep watching the models over the coming days on this arctic blast that could be making its way down here in the next week to ten days or so.
