4:00 AM Winter Weather Update

Road conditions have deteriorated across north central Iowa with many roads either mostly covered or completely covered. Northwestern Iowa hasn’t gotten too bad with nearly all roads reported as only partially covered. The central diagonal one-third of the state is mostly wet with the exception of some roads southwest of Waterloo which have been reported as partially covered with ice. We haven’t seen any updated snowfall reports yet as most observers haven’t gotten out of bed yet on this Saturday, however new reports should begin flocking in around 8 AM. We will likely have a post with the latest totals by that point. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect this morning through roughly 9 AM due to the blowing snow issues with the two to four inches of snow expected across the northwest. Take it easy if you will be on the roads around daybreak and take appropriate precautions.
