Iowa Weather Report December 7th 2014: Rather Bland for December

No Video Today

THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS: A system will move through the state today into tonight bringing with it some rain and perhaps a bit of wintry mix across the northern counties of the state. As we head into tonight the precipitation may changeover to wintry mix over the eastern counties of the state. Amounts will be light but any amounts could cause some icy patches on roads so be aware of that as you are out and about Sunday night into Monday morning. The rest of the week will see mainly dry conditions with temperatures slowly rising into the 40s and perhaps even a few 50s by the end of the week. As we head toward next weekend, another system will be approaching from the west that may give us another chance at some precipitation at that time.

HEADING TOWARD CHRISTMAS: The GFS is showing no big changes with regards to the weather pattern across the area. The system next weekend may linger a day or two with some rain and or snow, otherwise the weather thereafter looks somewhat dry with temperatures looking to be near seasonal levels for the middle toward the end of December. Another system will be approaching the area toward the end of the forecast period (around the 22nd) but it’s too far out to see if this may affect the area with any precipitation at this time. If this storm doesn’t produce any snow for the state, we could be looking at a brown Christmas for many of us, however we still have two and a half weeks for that to change.
