INTO THE WEEKEND: As we head into the long Thanksgiving Weekend, the weather will be fairly tranquil across the state with only a slight chance of seeing any precipitation late tonight into Friday morning along a warm front that will move across the state. This will warm readings well into the 40s for a good portion of the state on Saturday. In the meantime, today will not be warm with readings stuck in the teens in the northern and northeastern counties through the 20s to lower 30s elsewhere. Friday will see readings in the 20s northeast to the lower and middle 40s in the southwest. A cold front will move across the state early on Sunday bringing strong north to northwest winds behind it. This will likely lead to our highs being set during the morning hours with temperatures slowly falling throughout the day. Any precipitation that may be along it will be no more than a few flurries at this time.
INTO DECEMBER: Cold air will be around on Monday before temperatures moderate again as we head into Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday will bring the next storm system into the state with a chance of some precipitation at that time. It’s too early to determine precipitation type but certainly some rain and or snow will be possible. We should have a better handle on this system toward the beginning of next week.
FARTHER INTO DECEMBER: The GFS shows a rollercoaster pattern with regards to temperatures with no real trends developing at this point. A few systems could bring some precipitation to the state but timing these this far in advance is rather pointless at this time. We don’t see any long lasting cold snaps at this time, however this could change in the coming days.
