Moved to Cumming, Iowa

Cumming, IA
Cumming, IA

This is a post made to make my viewers aware I’ve made a move at the end of October from Des Moines proper to Cumming.  The reason for the move is because a to be closer to Ted Lare Garden Center, where I work. The move cut 45 minutes of driving out of my day and made sense. I moved to a house and installed what I consider the best landscaping at a house I’ve lived so far, including the planting of over 200 spring bulbs. I’m looking forward to spring 2015!

Introduction: Cumming, Iowa, population 471 is a small town suburb located 16 miles from Downtown Des Moines, on the southwest side of the Des Moines metropolitan area. It is 3 miles south of the newly built highway 5 bypass in the far northwest side of Warren County. The area has been experiencing significant growth due the easy access of Des Moines and new housing developments are being built.

located in southern Iowa about 60 miles north of the Missouri boarder, Cumming averages around 28 inches of snow each winter and 35 inches of rain. I am not expecting significant climate differences because the move was only 18 miles although I have already noticed cooler night time lows on my weather station because it is far less urban.  Cumming does sit on top of bluff above the Racoon River and besides an increase of wind it will be interesting to see how it effects temperatures.
