RAINY DAYS APPROACHING: We will have plenty of sunshine around today after some early morning frost. Readings will make it back into the 50s to lower 60s across the state. As we head into Sunday, clouds will be on the increase ahead of the next storm system that will be approaching from the west and southwest. We still could see some peaks of sunshine early on followed by cloudy skies and a threat of showers by the afternoon hours in the western and southwestern counties of the state. Highs will be a degree or two warmer than today. Monday and most of Tuesday should see a threat of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Some heavy rain could be possible but the best chances may remain to our south. Readings could be held down around 60 or so give or take a few degrees with the amount of clouds around. Warmer readings will follow in the wake of this system Wednesday into Thursday with winds out of the southwest and highs approaching 70 once again in some areas.
NEXT WEEKEND AND BEYOND: A slight cool down on Friday will be followed by readings rebounding on Saturday ahead of another quick system that could move in next Sunday. Of course this is in the extended period and the timing of this could change in coming model runs. As we look farther into the extended period, this run of the GFS shows a pattern of quick moving systems with some brief cool downs followed by temperatures moderating back to near seasonal levels. There is nothing that is screaming, pattern change at this time, nor is there any threat of snow as well. This could change, but it does look somewhat unlikely at this time.
