THE BIG CHANGE: The current storm system will continue to slowly move through the area with periods of showers and storms today across the state. There may be a break in the rain for the first half of Thursday before it picks back up again through early on Friday when the system will lift out to the northeast. Until then, highs will remain in the 60s and lower 70s across the state with mainly cloudy skies outside the chances of precipitation. The big change will come on Friday as the system departs, colder air will funnel into the state with readings struggling to make it into the 50s for quite a bit of the day with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Saturday doesn’t look to be much better with readings remaining in the 50s after morning lows that could bottom out in the upper 30s to lower and middle 40s.
NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: The cooler air will continue at least through the middle of next week before there is a brief warm up next Thursday. The GFS then shows another plunge of much colder air next Friday lasting through at least the 14th of October. Models are indicating that the air could be cold enough for widespread frost across the state but it’s still too early to call. The weather pattern will become more active as well, but timing the systems out this far in advance is tricky. Readings look to rebound to near seasonal levels around the 15th and 16th, however there is plenty of time for things to change in the coming days.
